I help arrange flowers at Christendom College for special events. The head coordinator of these events had a friend of hers who needed extra help for wedding flowers and asked if I could assist. Of course I said yes, as I am always ready to learn from other florists and eager to expand my portfolio.
The florist had come up with a vision already based off of the bride's Pinterest board, and she showed me some of the pictures that she was going for. It was a very whimsical and airy theme, which was just up my alley, so the arranging was very fun and rewarding. I got to work with Icelandic Poppies and Calla lilies for the first time, which was super exciting. I also discovered Plumsosa fern, and will definitely be using it, and recommending it in the future.
I made 18 cocktail table arrangements in these beautiful silver cups provided by the family of the bride. Along with those were two matching arrangements for a wine table, and a coffee table, as well as two arrangements for the tabernacle.
It was an amazing experience working with new flowers, and seeing a different perspective on a wedding. I learned a lot about using foam, which I have used a couple times before, but seeing her talent with it was amazing. Now I have all of these amazing tips and tricks to use for the next wedding that requires foam!
