Christendom College Graduation

I assist with making the floral arrangements for special events for Christendom College. I was asked to arrange the statement pieces for the ceremonies based on a past year's design. The flowers and greenery I worked with were Eskimo roses, stock, hydrangea, fern, Italian ruscus, white Veronica, eucalyptus, and salal leaves.

I was using floral foam to achieve the larger proportions of the arrangements, and it was quite a smooth process. The arrangements looked very good, considering they were in a toasty gymnasium with lots of people!

I found that the salal leaves and ferns are quite helpful in taking up space, and also last a long time out of water, so I will be recommending them to brides who have a darker green color scheme for their bouquets.

Once the ceremonies were over the special events coordinator instructed me to take the arrangements apart so that we could reuse the foam. We also allowed the graduates to take some of the flowers home, as they were just going to be thrown away.

I took some of the flowers and practiced making bridesmaids bouquets, and I had my friend pose for me so that I could do a photoshoot of the bouquet. The photoshoot went extremely well, and I loved the color scheme of the green and white. It was very clean and the white flowers were lit up by the evening sun.
